SKI TEST 2021
FISCHER HANNIBAL 106 * POWDER * EDITORS’ CHOICE
BEST FOR: Deep-snow touring missions
Titanal is a rare ingredient for a touring-focused ski and almost unheard of in this weight class. In the redesigned Hannibal, Fischer added the metal alloy to its Air Tec construction, a milled-out wood centre that lightens the already feathery paulownia wood core by 25 per cent. This addition of Titanal adds downhill performance to the uphill advantages, says Fischer. Add a network of carbon-fibre layers for torsional stiffness and the Hannibal has enough power to play with much bigger skis on-piste. “This ski carves better than most 106mm-waisted skis, even though it seems to weigh about half as much,” said Chris Baikie. In soft snow it floats effortlessly and the long turn radius helps it track smoothly, even in chunky conditions. The Hannibal makes skiing and skinning easier, saving energy for going farther and faster. fischersports.com
