Skiing fast or slowly, these skis love to turn. “Surprisingly precise and nimble for a bigger ski,” noted Ryan Stuart. And when the snow gets deeper, the ski only gets more fun. The widest member of the Blaze family, the 114 has a beech-and-poplar wood core, foam stringers made from recycled water bottles, and a Titanal plate underfoot. With soft-flexing tips, our testers found that the ski initiated and exited turns smoothly. Its stiffness underfoot held up nicely in tough conditions and at high speeds. And while it was comfortable at slow speeds, the faster we rode, the more exciting it got. “Like a mood ring, it matches whatever you’re into,” Stuart said.

Ryan Stuart
Ryan Stuart has a ski for every possible condition and a jacket to match. Well maybe not quite, but the magazine’s Technical Editor has more than enough of both and can’t wait to test out whatever is coming next. When he’s not testing skis or writing the buyer’s guides, you can’t find him exploring his bumpy backyard on Vancouver Island. @ryan_adventures
