With 106mm of width underfoot, a floaty twin-tip and a rockered shape, no one was surprised these boards were fun and playful in the fresh snow. But our testers were shocked at how well the Genesis sashayed through bumps and trees, and ripped up the groomers. “To my surprise, it carved beautifully and with ease,” said Alexis Borden-Sayah. That’s probably due to Liberty’s proprietary construction technique that builds a wooden core around a vertical strut of aluminum. For the ski’s nimble feel, look to its lightweight construction (paulownia, bamboo and poplar, plus carbon stringers) and plentiful rocker. The overall effect is the dampness and stability of a metal ski, but in a much lighter, easy-turning package.
