While fun in the fresh, the Mindbender 106C received unanimous approval for its crud-busting skills. “Handles the chop with aplomb,” said Colin Somers. As test-day powder turned to chopped-up mounds, testers on the Mindbender didn’t need to slow down or adjust. “It’s a playful crud-buster that felt good in the bumps and carved better than expected,” reported Zak Norman. The ski’s new construction mixes an aspen veneer core with a carbon fibre braid and unidirectional flax fibres. Some testers said the ski required constant attention—getting lazy meant losing control. But most found it just right as an everyday ski, especially for those who like lots of width underfoot.

Ryan Stuart has a ski for every possible condition and a jacket to match. Well maybe not quite, but the magazine’s Technical Editor has more than enough of both and can’t wait to test out whatever is coming next. When he’s not testing skis or writing the buyer’s guides, you can’t find him exploring his bumpy backyard on Vancouver Island. @ryan_adventures
