More than one tester described the e-Rally with car-racing metaphors. For instance, Steve Acciaroli wrote, “Edge and go; enjoy the ride with a sports-car feel.” Indeed, the SuperShape family’s heritage descends from Head’s race ski line, including EMC or Energy Management Circuit. Head tuned this “chip,” built into the topsheet, to absorb vibrations within a wavelength window where most chatter and unwanted shocks occur. With a wood core, Titanal sheet, Head’s proprietary graphene and a floating binding, “the ski will let you tip it way over without killing yourself,” said Nigel Harrison, Ski Canada’s instruction editor. Fellow tester Clinton Barnum found the ski liked it fast: “I kept pushing it to find the limits, and it just got better.” Most testers found the stiff ski a handful in the bumps, but for those with good technique, it’s a wicked platform for carving frontside or backside.
