Ferreol has mostly focused on backcountry and powder skis, but it is a Quebec brand, so it should come as no surprise that their first carving ski slices through hard conditions. “Calling all carve cravers!” quipped Chris Grover after skating down a couple of runs waiting for frozen spring corn to soften. “It grips hard snow like a starving dog on a bone.” Indeed, it made ice fun and felt stable at high speeds. The ski is built in Quebec, and the core is habitant maple that is sandwiched between two sheets of Titanal. The stiff ski, combined with the aggressive sidecut, hooks into turns quickly and easily and loves to ride an edge. Its narrow turn radius feels most natural in short to medium turns. Note, as with a starving dog, this high-performance ski requires a skilled handler.
