The Torngat is light, tough and ready for all conditions. We tested it on a touring trip through eastern Quebec—Xalibu’s backyard. In hard spring conditions the Torngat’s relatively narrow waist made it easy to edge, while a sandwich construction of poplar wood core (logged from the Rimouski area) between fibreglass sheets provided enough bite to hold on. Plus, anti-vibration strips smoothed out the ride. A semi-cap construction cut grams for the climb, and the generous tip and tail rocker provided sufficient float in 20cm of light snow. Designed and made in Quebec, this is good value for a homegrown, versatile ski.
