As the widest version of RMU’s flagship ski, the 106 impressed testers by providing the confidence to push harder. The poplar-and-beech wood core, backed up with rubber dampening layers and a fibreglass sandwich, created a smooth flexing ski that didn’t demand too much effort if we felt lazy, but was there to support us when conditions got challenging. With less rocker in the tail than most skis in this width, the Apostle liked to finish its carves, but still felt loose enough to sluff speeds in the steeps. At Backcountry Snowcats, the ski came into its own on steeper terrain and when skiing fast. “It felt stable all the way up to lower mach speeds,” said Nigel Harrison.
