For the first time Kicking Horse Mountain Resort will host a stop on the main event Freeride World Tour this winter. FWT made the announcement on Tuesday, rolling out a line up of five events for the top tier of the competitive freeskiing circuit.
“We are thrilled to announce that Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, #GoldenBC will be host of the only stop for the Freeride World Tour in North America, this February 3-9 2018!” KHMR wrote on its Facebook page “We are looking to tag this along with the Juniors freeride competition for an activity packed week.”
Kicking Horse joins Hakuba, Japan, the first stop, Vallnord-Arcalis, Andorra, Fieberbrunn, Austria and Verbier, Switzerland, on the tour.
Out is long time tour stop Haines, Alaska, and Chamonix, France. The last time the tour hit Canada was at Revelstoke Mountain Resort in 2013.
Looking to stand out on home snow will be three Canadian skiers: Logan Pehota, Trace Cook and Kylie Sivell.
