Faction is best known for its freestyle and freeride skis, the Dancer 79 proves Faction also knows how to make a carver for hard snow. Starting with the Dancer platform (poplar core, two sheets of Titanal), it narrowed the waist to 79mm, increased the camber and eased off on the tip and tail rocker to leave just a hint of both. Testers found a lightweight but very stiff ski. The camber provided the potential for an energetic and exciting ride, but testers had to have both power and enthusiasm to bend these boards. Those who didn’t have that power struggled to bite into the hard pack, while those that did found themselves aboard adrenaline-fuelled rocketships. Fun times for those who can keep up.

Ryan Stuart
Ryan Stuart has a ski for every possible condition and a jacket to match. Well maybe not quite, but the magazine’s Technical Editor has more than enough of both and can’t wait to test out whatever is coming next. When he’s not testing skis or writing the buyer’s guides, you can’t find him exploring his bumpy backyard on Vancouver Island. @ryan_adventures
