The Maven offers a lesson in versatility. “The faster you go, the better it carves,” wrote one tester. Julie Collins took it down steeps, in soft snow and on groomers. “It crushes anything!” she said, then followed up with “forgiving” and “great for perfecting skills.” The complex design probably plays a part. The shape leans toward firm snow, with moderate tip rocker, a GS sidecut and fairly flat tail that provides a powerful finish to turns, while the construction is more freeride, with a mix of carbon, Titanal and a poplar and ash wood core and bevelling around the tip to increase flotation in soft snow. It’s a solid platform to push hard off-piste when the conditions are soft, without giving up much on groomer days.
