SKI CANADA TEST 2022
BLIZZARD BLACK PEARL * WOMEN * METAL ALL-MOUNTAIN
BEST FOR: Inspiring confidence to move from blues to blacks and beyond
A regular comment from Mount Washington testers about the Black Pearl was how light it felt. Case in point: “It almost feels like there’s no ski,” wrote Louise Draper. At 1.7 kg per ski it’s light for a resort ski, but not weightless. Pushed a little more, testers settled on “light underfoot.” That’s a testament to a construction that lays different types and densities of wood in carefully placed lengths and spots to create a ski that’s stiff where it needs to be (right underfoot) and forgiving everywhere else (tip and tail, especially). With a versatile shape and just a touch of rocker, it took little energy to steer it through the variety of conditions we had on test day. Pushed too hard, the ski was a little squirrelly, but the less demanding found it an easygoing ski they could take anywhere.
