SKI TEST 2021
ELAN WILDCAT 86 CX * ALL-MOUNTAIN * WOMEN
BEST FOR: A one-ski, all-mountain solution particularly for Easterners.
The advantage of an asymmetric ski (i.e., a designated left and right ski) is efficiency. For instance, in the Wildcat, Elan’s new all-mountain line, structural material is strategically applied along the inside of the ski where the most pressure is applied. It only runs the width of the ski under the binding. This technique lightens up the ski and eases turn initiation, while focusing power along the carving edge. The result is an easy-turning ski that really holds its own in firm snow. “A fun carver,” wrote Sarah Hauser. Others noted its preference for being skied on edge, its stability at speed and predictability in the bumps. It may not have wowed anyone, but everyone liked it. This is a solid, dependable and super-versatile all-mountain ski.
