SKI CANADA TEST 2022
NORDICA WILD BELLE DC84 * NON-METAL ALL-MOUNTAIN * WOMEN
BEST FOR: A smooth all-mountain skier from the Laurentians
to the Rockies.
A lot of brands develop a unisex ski before tweaking the idea into a women-specific version. Not Nordica. The Wild Belle was independently developed for women and it’s making a big claim: metal performance…without any metal. The Wild Belle has two cores (poplar with beech stringers) stacked on top of each other and separated by a vibration-absorbing rubber layer. Nordica says the Dual Core construction creates a lively and poppy-feeling ski, but also one that’s stable and damp. Nordica tweaked where and how the bindings mount to the ski, too, shortening the plate and tilting it up slightly. This allows the ski to flex more naturally and shifts the stance more upright. We didn’t have it in time for test day, but handed it off to a few women to ski later. The lightest in the group struggled to find the sweet spot, but more powerful and heavier skiers found it nimble and capable.
