There are two types of skiers in the world: those who go skiing no matter what, and those who consider the weather first. The Impulse could work for either, but seems tailored for the latter. BD complemented the fibreglass, poplar and Titanal construction with full ABS sidewalls, generous rocker in the tip and tail, and a medium flex. Skiing in soft spring conditions, tester Deanna Papineau, who has never had a bad day on skis, found it damp and stable. “Somehow they always stayed glued to my feet,” she said. “Responsive and easy to find the sweet spot.” The 16m sidecut was most at home in medium turns but was easy to coax into a variety of shapes and speeds. On firmer snow, it tended to want to skid rather than rail. But when the snow was grippy, the Impulse excelled everywhere. Papineau refused to return the test pair!
