Panorama adds 128 acres of expert terrain
Panorama is staking a claim to the most exciting, and probably biggest, expansion at a Canadian ski hill this winter. Last week the resort announced the terrain addition, four double black runs cut through the steeps beyond Taynton Bowl. The 128 acres of new terrain is part of the first phase of a 500 acre expansion planned for the next few years.
A traverse and hike beyond the Panorama summit, the new playground adds 75 metres to the resort’s vertical, bumping the total to 1,300 metres and lengthening the longest run to 6.5 kilometres. The resort says the terrain’s aspect is leeward facing so it will collect and preserve powder.
The four new runs, The Monster, Spectre, Get Out! and Ridgeback, are beyond the farthest of the Taynton Bowl steeps, a short hike and traverse further along the ridge of Goldie Plateau.
“This terrain expansion is one of several significant enhancements for this winter,” says Steve Paccagnan, President and Chief Executive Officer, Panorama Mountain Resort. “We’ve also heavily invested into our snowmaking to ensure top-to-bottom coverage, and we’re one of the first resorts in Canada to implement RFID ticket technology providing speed and ease for guests to access the slopes.”
