Usually our female testers love a stiff, metal-laminate ski. But with a construction identical to the unisex-equivalent Stance, including two sheets of Titanal and a poplar and karuba wood core, they weren’t sure what to make of the powerful Stance 88. Some even found the relatively short 161cm test model a challenge to steer. But our women testers who could tame this charger found a ski with no top end. “Fast and sturdy on groomers,” wrote Robin Humphreys. Testers with a racing background seemed to enjoy it more, commenting that it had the edging for hardpack, the width to wander and enough power to crash through heavy snow without deflecting off course. The consensus: only heavier or taller experts should apply.
